Here in Munich, we’re busy completing our lineup for DLD 2019 and happy to announce a number of new speakers.
Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg will join us on Sunday, January 20, as a keynote speaker for an outlook on the year in tech and social media.
Ballett superstar Sergei Polunin will take a break from stirring up the world of classical dance to talk about creativity, culture, and life as a YouTube phenomenon, currently counting more than 25 million viewers.
Fatoumata Ba made her name as a co-founder of Africa’s first tech unicorn and is now busy building a social-startup studio with her new company, Janngo.
Rachel Botsman, one of the world’s leading voices on technology and innovation, will share insights on privacy, data protection and the beginning of a new era of human relationships built on trust between people rather than institutions.
All of these speakers share our belief that it is time for more Optimism & Courage, our motto for DLD 2019.
Tech may have a “branding issue” right now, as Parag Khanna puts it, a geopolitical scholar and best-selling author who will be joining us for a conversation with Andrew Keen. Still, technology plays “a crucial role in improving society”, Khanna argues in an interview that you’ll find below – and simply condemning tech and social media as evil forces “would mean throwing the baby out with the bathwater”.
We couldn’t agree more. Wishing you a peaceful holiday season, we look forward to seeing you soon in Munich.
